Siggy - Ray,
how are things going mate.
Price -
I am very well thank you. I had my last bout of chemo yesterday and
I am on the job today so it’s all good.
Siggy - Speaking of chemo how is it all that going? You gave us
all a scare recently when you were diagnosed with bowel cancer, what’s
the John Dory?
Price - Well the doctors tell
me they have got it all but the last dose of chemo was for security
reasons so it doesn’t come back. But to say, so far so good.
Siggy - Good to hear. I see you are still in the building trade
these days and you have a helper from your Parramatta days, how is
that going?
Price - Well if you call the Guru
a helper (Eric Grothe), you must be mistaken he is a bit like Geoff
from the Wiggles he is always asleep. But he does wake up occasionally.
Siggy - So you have big shoulders still these days and still
carrying him?
Price - My word.
Siggy - Enough of Guru anyway what’s a good night out for you
theses days?
Price - Dinner with my lovely
wife Sandy.
Siggy - Your favourite drink?
Price - Blonde of course, just
how I like my women.
Siggy - OK, your favourite food?
Price - Anything. I like and eat
most things that are good for you.
Siggy - Seen any good movies lately.
Price - I loved Happy Feet. It
was a bit like my self, good on my toes and funny.
Siggy - Yea you sure are a funny man, especially after that
last comment. You have been a bit critical of the game lately do you
still feel that way?
Price - I sure do. I hate the
interchange rule, the war of attrition is no longer and the game has
lost a lot of its focus in regards to the toughness. The 10 metre
rule has brought about a flat attack which is s...t and these days
the players (apart from a few) are more or less robots that lack skill
and fitness and can’t play for the full 80 minutes and that bothers
me.
Siggy - I am glad I asked that question what about best players?
Price - Darren Lockyer, Andrew
Johns, Nathan Hindmarsh and Greg Inglis.
Siggy - Best teams you like to watch?
Price - West’s Tigers and Melbourne
Storm, they are the best coached teams too.
Siggy - How’s the body?
Price - Its OK. I am still playing
in the legends Rugby Union and we are going over to France soon but
I will give it away in 2 years.
Siggy - You are a machine how do you do it?
Price - I just love it.
Siggy - Incredible… any way mate, I just wanted to say G/Day,
take care and thanks for your time. Good luck with everything and
its great to hear you are making steady progress with your bout of
bowel cancer. Do you have any tips for me?
Price - Yea go and get a check
up because with this disease it is a silent killer that creeps up
on you as you get older and if any body else sees this story please
do the same because the sooner you can diagnose this terrible disease
if you are unfortunate enough to get it, then the sooner you can get
help and recover from it. so it is all about early detection these
days.
Siggy - Thanks mate and good luck.
Price - No problems my pleasure.
